PBM Withdraws Suspension of Two Supreme Council Members

SIBU: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has reinstated the membership of two members of its Supreme Council (AMT) who were suspended prior to the 15th General Election (GE15).

The decision was made during a special party meeting on Saturday.

PBM Chairman Datuk Larry Sng Wei Shien said in a Facebook post on Sunday that the decision to withdraw the suspension of their membership and reinstate their positions as Supreme Council members was agreed upon by those present at the meeting.

“Today (Saturday), I had a meaningful discussion with two PBM Supreme Council members, Datuk Chua Lian Chye and Muniraa Abu Bakar, who had previously been suspended before the election, together with the party’s disciplinary committee.

“The meeting lasted one and a half hours, and it was decided that their suspensions would be lifted and their positions reinstated,” he said.

Meanwhile, the remaining 10 Supreme Council members who are still suspended and were absent from the meeting are required to provide show-cause letters.

He said that if they fail to do so within one week, they will be immediately expelled from the party.

However, those who respond to the letters will have their fate determined by the disciplinary committee before the end of this year.

Before GE15, several PBM members were suspended following a power struggle within the party in late October.

Those involved included former Ampang Member of Parliament Datuk Zuraidah Kamaruddin, Dr Daroyah Alwi and Dr Sathiskumar Govindaraju.
